This is Emily and her family. Em is a fellow photographer and friend and we've made plans to get together and play for years and it just never happens. Except for this time! we finally did it. I got to photograph her beautiful and growing family. I have to be honest, it is intimidating photographing a fellow photographer. Plus it's not easy for a photographer to be in FRONT of the camera. We like to hide behind the lens for one reason or another. But Em did fantastic and we drove around Avonlea to abandoned buildings and canola fields and it was a beautiful day for all of us to get out and have an adventure... mud and all.

Hey guys, guess what?!?! I totally photographed a birth. It was ridiculously amazing and personal and intense and I'm very certain that if I didn't have a camera glued to my face trying not to miss a thing, I would have bawled my face off. (how's that for a run on sentence? sorry Mr. Powell)

Anyway... those images are pretty personal so I'm going to get the approval of those concerned before I put a few up. In the meantime, here are a few from this wonderful family that allowed me to be a witness to the beauty of life.

We shot these a week and a half after baby H was born. enjoy...

The Exners

This first image is my favourite of the whole day. We had some challenges as it was a very windy day on the prairie but i think we captured everyone as they really are :)

This is the Gougeon family. These kids were super well behaved and lovely and smiled so wonderfully for everything!! I just wished I spoke their language. For real. They are French speaking children and I don't know French! As soon as I was told that I wasn't sure what to expect. But these kids and their wonderful parents immediately put my mind at ease. It was wonderful to meet them and I hope to work with them in the future... en francais, oui?

This is the Hales family. I started off taking their photos when Ashley was pregnant with this little smiley girl. It's been so great to see her grow. I'm pretty sure she took her first steps a few days after this shoot. it's a whole new world...

I'm blogging a lot today. For two reasons: first, I haven't done it in a looooong time, second, I need to make some room on my computer. These new files are HUGE. Anyway... This is Cohen. Remember Rachel? the gorgeous pregnant lady? well this is her family now. There are two ages here because I'm so bad at blogging.  He's cute so I'm sure you won't mind the abundance of pictures.
